Shawano Community Middle School to Honor Veterans on November 9, 2023
Shawano Community Middle School is proud to announce its upcoming Veterans Day Celebration, scheduled for Thursday, November 9, 2023. This special event is a heartfelt tribute to honor and thank our local veterans for their selfless service to our nation.
The celebration will commence with a Veterans Breakfast, held in the middle school commons, beginning at 8:15 AM. This breakfast provides an opportunity for our community to come together, share stories, and show appreciation to the brave men and women who have served our country. The breakfast is free for veterans and $5.00 for community members. Please call our office to RSVP by November 6th.
Following the breakfast, a ceremony will take place at 9:00 AM. This event will include speeches, music from our middle school band, and a moment of silence to reflect on the sacrifices made by our veterans. It is a time to remember and honor the courage, dedication, and commitment of these individuals who have served and protected our freedom.
A thrilling highlight of the day will be the landing of a Black Hawk helicopter at 10:00 on the school grounds. The landing of this iconic military aircraft is a rare and exciting opportunity for our community to get up close and personal with a piece of our nation’s military history. Veterans, students, and the general public will have the chance to explore the helicopter and learn more about its role in our armed forces.
In addition to the Black Hawk helicopter, there will be other static displays available, showcasing military equipment and vehicles. These displays will offer an educational experience for students and community members, allowing them to gain a better understanding of the tools and technology our military utilizes.
