Why is the District adding digital learning days?

The original Shawano School District Calendar was adopted by the board of education with 167 student instructional days or 1,162.75 hours of instruction. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction does not require 180 student instruction days. Instead, DPI requires all school districts to have the following number of instruction hours each year. ● Grade K-6 = 1,050 hours ● Grade 7-12 = 1,137 hours As of March 17, 2026 we have had four (4) inclement weather days. These inclement weather days have resulted in a loss of 27.5 instructional hours. We have used all of our allocated, built in time for the 2025-26 school year and will need to make up 1.75 hours.
